《真皿 - True mean》音乐源自熊晏一知美术馆的个人展览，
知美术馆坐落于成都新津老君山千年佛道圣地，由日本建筑大师隈研吾设计，在这自然与人文深度交融的场域中，
熊晏一展开了
跨越时空与感知的对话。


展览以三幅九米纵轴的容器绘画作品作为视觉导引，
通过十二组隐匿式立体音响装置暗嵌于建筑结构中，形成环绕式声网，构造出多维的声学体感。
晏一以四十五分钟的录音室制作及现场即兴歌剧演唱作为开端，
将观众作为行为艺术的核心主导，接引大家进入到“听之以心，遇之以神”的太空舱内，
此刻的知美术馆如同一艘航母，承载着未知由此起航。


此项目的音乐谱曲结构由熊晏一的歌剧演唱、录音室制作、钢琴即兴演奏、
合成器演奏（包括MatrixBrute、Bastl Casper、softPop、Moog Subsequent 25和Solar 42）、复刻编钟演奏、即兴现场录制，
以及跨地区生态声景采集构成（地点分别为：西藏自治区冷古寺、三星堆复刻楚国编钟基地、青城山古观音寺，以及知美术馆内外建筑瓦片及噪音的采集）。
艺术家在音乐谱写的编排中隐含了“视听虚拟反转”的概念：
用电子合成器模拟山泉鸟鸣，将自然界采集的自然声源置换为电子数字音源，
还原我们在感知经验中对声音边界的认知及探索。
这一独特的音乐特性并非简单的在音乐表现中，而是结构严谨的镶嵌在和声结构及复调曲式的变化叠加中，每一个乐章的连贯性与整体既展现
了宏大的叙事格局，又不失细腻的情感描绘。
亲临现场的观众在这空灵的自然人造声学边界中被悬置，
仿佛在时空的内部制造了一种非时间性的存在，与之并行却又脱离在一个个刹那中，
穿梭于各自不同的心境，从物理空间到精神空间又回归至心灵空间。


当硕大的美术馆如航母般传来一阵阵的乐音波长与声码，古老地域的频率共振着建筑外立面飘荡的青瓦，
仿佛这一刻就如晏一画作中悬浮的“空”之容器——它们矗立于佛道文明结晶的长河中，
以“知”、“空”、“真”三昧为舟楫，唤醒本就存在于我们自性法海中的圆满觉性，
并以最至诚的敬意献上这份对古圣先贤最高的顶礼。




《True Mean》: An Exhibition Overview

The music of True Mean originated from Xiong Yanyi’s solo exhibition at the
 Zhi Art Museum, located within Laojunshan in Xinjin, Chengdu—an ancient site with deep roots in both Buddhist and Taoist traditions.
Designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the museum is a thoughtful blend of nature and culture, 
offering an ideal setting for Yanyi’s dialogue—
one that moves beyond conventional boundaries of time, space, and perception.


At the centre of the exhibition stood three monumental, nine-metre-high vertical axis paintings. Surrounding them,
 twelve concealed stereo audio installations were integrated into the museum’s architectural structure,
creating an immersive surround sound network. 
This acoustic environment drew visitors into a multidimensional listening experience. 
Yanyi began the work with a 45-minute studio recording, 
combined with
live, improvised operatic vocals, placing the audience at the core of the performance. 
She described it as a
“capsule of listening with the heart and encountering with the spirit.” 
In that moment, the museum became more than a gallery—it transformed into an aircraft carrier, 
setting off on a journey into the unknown.


The musical composition was a layered combination of sound elements: Yanyi’s a cappella opera vocals, 
live studio improvisations, various modular and analogue synthesisers (including MatrixBrute, Bastl Casper, softPop, Moog Subsequent 25, and Solar 42), 
piano improvisations, and ensembles of ancient Chinese chime bells. 
The soundscape also incorporated field recordings from locations such as Lenggu Monastery in Tibet,
the reconstructed Chu Dynasty bell pavilion at the Sanxingdui Site Base, 
Gu Guanyin Temple on Qingcheng Mountain, and the Zhi Museum itself—capturing the textures of its tiles, ambient noises, and reverberations.


At the heart of the composition was Yanyi’s concept of “audiovisual virtual inversion”: 
using synthesisers to emulate the sounds of nature, and converting natural sounds into digital formats. 
This approach challenged traditional boundaries between natural and artificial sound. 
It was not just a stylistic device, but embedded into
the harmonic and polyphonic structures of the music. Each section was carefully developed, balancing narrative
coherence with emotional nuance.


Visitors found themselves in a space between the organic and the constructed, 
as though suspended in a moment outside of time.
 The work encouraged a movement—not just through physical space, but through
internal, emotional, and spiritual states—before returning to a place of inner stillness.

As the museum took on the metaphor of an airborne vessel, 
the ancient frequencies of the surrounding landscape began to resonate with the digital sound codes within the installation. 
This created a sensation of suspension, 
similar to the “empty” vessels portrayed in Yanyi’s paintings, where sound hung in the air like dust in light. 
These suspended tones referenced core Chinese philosophical ideas of 
“knowingness,”“truth,” and “emptiness,” offering a reflection on the interplay between history and modernity, 
nature and technology, form and absence - the very essence of the cultural synthesis between Buddhism and Taoism 
at the heart of the exhibition.

时、空、⾳、⾊展开游观之下的境与界。
嶙峋的⼭峦悬隔在四时之外，
古⽊参差之幽绝触于当下，
如⼼时显，
既游于万古长空之境，万古同时之界。
由象见⼼之灵境，此当际与莽远在渺小与⽆垠之间回旋，徘徊于虚实，
推⽽远、反⽽近，虚待万影婆娑立现。
以⾊追⾊，当知极⾊处致幻影虚灵，
蹈光蹑影舍眼中景，
取⼼中境，
塑虚形乃续势之⼒，
捕势即破开合之寓，开合向背虚灵不昧⽅归⽣命之本。
⼀块红布挂在⼀块巨⽯上。

巨⽯位于贵州黔东南岜扒村外，颇有来历：相传在明朝时，
侗王吴勉放⽜经过此地遇见⼀个侗族孕妇，
问：“你可见我赶的⽜？”
孕妇不解的说：“我不见⽜，只见⽯⼭在移动。” 
这时，⽯⼭突然停了下来。王勉⼀鞭挥了出去，⼭⽯瞬间变成了三截，
⼀截飞到西⼭，⼀截飞到岜扒，还有⼀截留在了贯洞。
孕妇当场被吓到发髻歪了。故今这也是侗族妇⼥的发髻总是歪在⼀边的来历。
这块巨⽯被当地奉为了神⼭，每年初⼀村民们都会在⼭下祈求来年，风调雨顺，五⾕丰登。
“垂直的红⾊”在神⼭上与日间耕作，傍晚归家的村名们相伴了三个日夜，
待第四个破晓之时它就消失了，如今村⼦里又 多了⼀个有关红⾊瀑布的传说。

Time, space, sound and color, altogether, unfold the realms and dimensions revealed by the roaming observation. 
The jagged mountains are suspended outside the confines of four seasons, while the secludedness of ancient trees lays its finger on the present moment. 
Just as if the heart would unveil its temporal being, 
one would be roaming in the realm of eternal extensity and the dimension of eternal simultaneity.
 The spiritual realm of the heart is presented by miriads of&#38;nbsp;images. The current moment and the vast distance are swirling between minutia and immensity, lingering between virtuality and reality, 
pushed away but seems closer, waiting, in vain, for thousands of secular façades to appear. 
In the pursuit of forms, one would eventually realize that to the extreme, forms exist among phantoms and ethereal spirits in virtuality. 
Treading lights and shadows, one forsakes the scenery in the visual organ and shifts to acquire the state of the heart’s realm. Sculpting of the virtual forms are for the continuation of a momentum. 
The momentum is caught to fracture the residence of openings and closures. When the ethereal spirits are unobscured from dualities of openings and closures, towards orientations and backwards ones, 
the root of life&#38;nbsp;can be returned to.

“Vertical Red” on a gray-white boulder.

The giant boulder is located outside of the Bapa Village in Qiandongnan, Guizhou. It has quite an origin story: Legend has it that in the Ming Dynasty, 
Wu Mian, the king of the Dong, passed by the village herding cattle. He had an encounter with a Dong pregnant woman, 
“Can you see the cattle I drove?”, asked the king. 
“I can’t see any cattle, only a moving rock.” The pregnant woman replied in confusion. 
All of the sudden, the boulder ceases its movement. Wu Mian swung his whip, and the boulder instantly split into three sections.
 One flew to Mount Xi, one reached Bapa Village, and one remained in Cave Guan. 
The pregnant woman was so frightened that her hairbun became crooked. This is also the reason why Dong women’s buns are always crooked to one side.
This boulder is locally enshrined as a sacred mountain. Every new year, villagers pray under the mountain for good weather and good crops.
The "Vertical Red" was on the mountain for three days, it accompanied the villagers day and night. 
At the fourth dawn, it disappeared ... and now there is another folk tale about the “Red Waterfall”.

小绿是有关于科技与自然、
意识及意识朝向、图像与认知、以及空间边界的探索。
视频中“音乐”的运用是对图像节奏的“再”创作及突破，作曲结构以d和声小调作为⾊彩基调，
以当地古代乐器“Bic bac”与“Oh is”作为曲式的特点，在音乐实验⽅面则以合成器及模块模拟自然声，
把纯自然声编辑为电⼦音源作为试听的虚拟反转，

还原在感知经验中我们对声音边界的认识及探索。



作品的呈现方式则是从超越日常视觉经验的方向展开，
小绿是在我们经验预测之内及之外的，
当无人机拍摄下的“一面”作为“实在存在”时，这“一面” 含盖着丰富且抽象的虚指部分，
视觉对象只能在视觉经验的预判中完成这一意识朝向。
在此基础上展开我们从无人机视觉已知为“真”的小绿的客观存在，
 而客观的“真”才是探讨客观何以产生及意识是如何把一个对象立义出来并赋予它存在的意义，
这种对客观的信念及立意的意识行为它来自于哪里？

小绿以行为艺术本身转换为一个视听材料作为探究起点，
试图寻找“穿越”与“传递”是如何作用于不同的当下时空边界及艺术类别之间，
它以一种音乐的方式沿着时间并行，但又脱离在穿越的瞬间里，
在时间内部制造了一种非时间性的存在，让变化得以停留在生生不变之中。

	
		
		
	
	
		
			
				
					
Little Green is an exploration into technology and nature, consciousness and
the orientation of consciousness, 
image and cognition, and the boundaries of
space.
 With its compositional structure featuring 
D harmonic minor as the
foundational color tone, and local ancient instruments "Bic bac" and "Oh is"
adding 
distinguished characteristics to the musical form, the role of music in
this video is to re-create and alter the rhythm of the moving image.
 In respect
of experimental music, synthesizers and modules are utilized to simulate
natural sound,
 conversely, recorded pure natural sound is edited to fully take
on electronic attributes. 
Such process serves as a virtual inversion of the
audio-visual, 
which restores our sense to understand and to explore the
boundaries of sound in perceptual experience.


					
Little Green is presented in a way that transcends everyday visual experience,

it is both within and beyond our empirical predictions. As the sight revealed
by the drone perspective is deemed “actual existent”, 
it contains, in essence,
ample and abstract parts that signify the unsubstantiated. 
The ever shifting
object of vision only accomplishes the process of consciousness orientation
within 
the range of the predictable from our past visual experience. 
It is on
the basis of the drone vision that we extrapolate the objective existence of
the “Little Green”. 
This very concept of objective authenticity here leads to
the questions of 
how objectivity arises and how the consciousness makes
sense of an object and attaches meaning to it. 
Eventually, where are the faith
in objectivity and the conscious behavior to attach meaning originated from?


					
Transforming the performance art itself into an audio-visual material, 
artist
Xiong Yanyi takes this endeavor as a starting point, 
intending to seek after
the process through which “traversing” and “transmitting” 
take effect
between different spatial-temporal boundaries and artistic genres in the
present. 
“Little Green” parallels along time in the approach of experimental
music, meanwhile disengaging from the moments of traversing. 
It produces
a non-temporal existence within time, allowing changes to remain in the

楚之未-实验剧场项目，











艺术家熊晏一在英国伦敦市政厅礼堂，以一种大胆且前瞻性的姿态，
以装满水宽23米的巨型器皿装置，平铺在舞台的中央，
将人工智能全息影像互动装置、实验音乐、古典歌剧以及中国古代乐音（曾侯乙编钟）进行了深度碰撞，并实现了难以企及的舞台效果。熊晏一把古典剧场的边界推向了新的高度，令这场古典与前卫交织的演出成为叹为观止的艺术盛宴。
In 2017, at London Municipal Building-Guild Hall, Yan directs The Future of Chu in an audacious and forward-looking gesture. 
The stage of classical opera, incorporated by interactive holographic moving image and contemporary lighting installation art, 
added by a 23-metre water-filled vessel-shaped installation, 
gets a makeover as an Avant-Garde site specifically rendered for an unrivaled performance. 
She directs, composes, choreographs and performs this 30-minute marvelous spectacle where 
Classical Opera, Experimental Music and the sound of the Ancient Chinese instrument: Bianzhong of Marquis Yi of Zeng all come together 
to exemplify the phenomenal extent to which the Classical and the Avant-Garde can dissolve the boudaries and compliment each other 
to form a stunning audio-visual tableau.

它们不断衍⽣，不断折叠。⾏为艺术总是在消解它自身所被赋予的定义，
所以它总是处于自身的边缘。
它要么在过程中爆发，要么在未完成的记忆中崩溃。

这就是为什么它总能唤醒那些经常在重复中被淹没的认知。
认知是⼀扇门，你通过它进⼊新的空间。
观者可以用自身的经历，情感、视觉、感官，思想和体验释放出自⼰的能量，
并扩散到整个⾏为现场的共振中。


All of the sounds, movements, installations and voices had encountered an impact resulted from the process of a spatial movement, 
what are derived from this scene continue to overlap with those that are folded.

Performance Art has always been stepping on the edge of itself, 
dissolving its given definition. 
It either goes explosive during the process, or collapses into
 
half remembered gestures.
 
For this reason it unceasingly awakens the cognitive dimensions that were drowned in repetition. 
Cognition is but one of the doors that can be opened into new conﬁgurations of spatial becomings.
 An audience is permitted a catharsis of energy that draws its intensity and intricacy from their experience, emotions, visual memories, sensory information, thoughts and feelings. 
Streams of energy thus radiate into the entire resonant field of the performance.

在中国古典绘画中，我们从不执迷于现实层面的“真”，
我们的⽂化惯性更注重对事物形式的超越和对静的，
即站在“静” 的不同能量上去捕捉流动及变化。
让双脚能像眼睛⼀样感知光线，感知结构，感知势能，并且把感知的对象作为⼀个全⽅位的整体。
通过身体的觉，理解和超越视觉及思想所产⽣的逻辑判断。
“静”的稳定性及它在艺术中的代偿是不可忽视的，对事物的理解和表现形式总是在“似与不似”之间。
表演中“半开半合”的⽭盾内在起伏，也就是⼀种蓄“势”。
“势”则在节奏变化上是⼀种⼼灵上的推进，
在⾏为艺术领域中，
这就是“韧性”(endure): ⼀种对时间和空间的对抗和延展，⼀种对“静”的超越。
 

There is no indulgence for static representation of reality in Chinese classical paintings. 
The cultural inertia gravitates towards the transcendence of representations 
and the capacity to capture moving forces at different energy states of “calmness”. 
The feet become organs of perception as the eyes because they receive information of light beams, structures, moving forces. Integrating different information, the object of perception is rendered a holistic being. 
By opening the body to such process, a complex web of visible and invisible traces emerges as a ﬁeld of becoming. 
The steadiness of “calmness” and its compensation in art are a force to be reckoned with. It tends to situate the apprehensions and representations of things between resemblance and dissmilarity. 
The undulating half-opened half-folded inner contradiction is the gathering of a momentum. 
This momentum, when harnessing rhythmic changes, is an advance in the realm of heart. 
In the field of Performance Art, 
such advance is an articulation of endurance: the act of rivaling and extending on space and time, the transcending of “calmness”.

这个作品试图探索和延伸⾏为艺术及表演形式在特定抽象场域的各种不同可能性。
装置及声音的⼀体化呈现作为载体， 建立⼀种能量共振的空间。
用“频率”和“记忆”打开⼀个通道，
通过不同的维度去探索感知图像背后的想象空间以及在现场的运动关系中打开当下的体验。


This performance attempts to dvelve into the extension of performance art principles in a designated configuration of abstraction. 
The tree branch installation serves as a conductor for sonic and vocal energy, 
the operatic voices establish a ﬁeld of resonance, 
the sound (invariably technologically generated) &#38;nbsp;collects virtual energies, 
and the bodies, they display the faculty of movement and channel memories which articulate experience of temporality.











总的来说，这是⼀次从已有认知出发凝视于未来记忆的寓⾔。
⼀段⽂字、⼀个⼈声、⼀个动作或⼀个声响都可能作为这个时间深渊里的回响，
但随之⽽来的是不可预见的变化在不断瓦解的同时重新配置的遐想，
这种遐想是不稳定的，这里没有明确的视觉形式和听觉语⾔，
因为表演现场的 “质” 已经超越了具体认知。


Overall this constitutes a living parable expanding from the gaze of intrinsic patterns of cognition to a clandestine longing for a form of memory in the future.
 A passage, a voice, a movement or a sound could serve as an echo in the chamber of deep time, 
and with it the unpredictable reverie of ever disintegrating and reconfiguring changes occurs. 
There exists no defined formal and audio syntax, 
by cause of the spirits that channel such systems on the scene are beyond representation and ﬁxed identity.

⽇常者，归朴之本，意义之源。

艺者以平视观器，显其背后⽆限。
作⽤于⼈，解未知，抽熟陌，重组义。器之探，实探未知与多维平衡，亦承⽂化精神。 
古今东西，艺者如朱耷、莫兰迪、毕加索、沃霍尔等，再作于器，显物之重复⽽意义异。
如述，⾝乃器，亦乐器，独⽴⽽相依，如呼吸间之“悬”美，使万物穿梭于⽆形之境。
